BOOTLEGGERS ON BREAK!
The Bootleggers Ball will be on break from June 2020 to June 2021 while our venue, the Community Music Center (CMC), undergoes extensive renovations.
CMC has been our home for the last five years and there aren’t any other venues in San Francisco that are as perfectly suited to host the Bootleggers Ball. We will return to CMC once they have completed their year of construction, which is tentatively scheduled for July 2021.
During the break we encourage you to support live music at other Bay Area venues. We as organizers, musicians, and dancers are so grateful for your continued support over the years.
—The Bootleggers Ball team
We're a group of Bay Area friends who decided to work together to throw the dance party of our dreams. Since we dance lindy hop and other vintage dances from back in the day, we're mixing together the tastiest ingredients we can find: a beautiful ballroom, hot live jazz, classy people, and plentiful shenanigans.
Past bands have included:
Clint Baker's Hot Five
Kally Price Old Blues & Jazz Band
Le Jazz Hot
Americano Social Club
Clint Baker's Golden Gate Swing Band
The Don Neely Swingtet
Rob Reich Quintet Swings Left
The Ivory Club Boys
The Hot Baked Goods
The Au Brothers Jazz Band
The Fascinating Rhythms
Ray Skjelbred's New Berkeley Rhythm
Michael Gamble & the Rhythm Serenaders
Jonathan Stout and his Campus Five ft. Hilary Alexander
Keenan McKenzie and the Riffers
We've found wonderful hosts in the SF Community Music Center in the Mission District.
The Community Music Center (CMC) was founded in 1921 with the mission of making music accessible to all people, regardless of their financial means. They offer classes for people of all ages, abilities and interests and financial aid to all who need it.
